Poem: In the Depths of Despair

In the Depths of our Despair

In the depths of our despair, when we are disappointed, discouraged, and completely saddened within.

We can turn to the Lord, for only God is the inspirational spirit, we can trust and believe in.

Although our hearts may be heavy and passionate with uncertainties, burdens, and fears,

We need to call upon the Lord, praying God, will remove all our doubts, anxieties, and tears.

In our heavy-hearted moments of struggle, when we need an Almighty God the most,

We earnestly pray, seeking out the grace of God, to be our spiritual and loving host.

Even though we falter, err, stumble, and fall on this rocky life's road,

We know we can trust in the Lord, knowledgeable, only our God can truly lighten our load.

We pray and ask not to be disheartened, and to continue with faith and future hope.

We faithfully believe our Lord has a purposeful plan that can help us, to befittingly, cope.

We humbly pray, asking for the Lord’s kindness, mercy, forgiveness, and love.

And willingly embrace, that only an Almighty God’s control, can come from heaven above.

When we walk and are steadfast with the Lord, we welcome God’s goodness and might,

With God Shining brightly upon us, we find our spirit restored from darkness to the light.

We thank God we are educated by scripture, and the written word that is specifically found,

When guided by the Lord’s intellectual Doctrine and God’s emotional depths all around.

We pray for the courage to forgive ourselves for our wayward, rebellious past,

And ask for endurance to move forward and for the faculty to be content, at last.

We pray for wisdom and understanding to, ultimately, let go of our sin,

Knowing God's endless love and compassion is when our healing and motivation begin.

We fervently pray that our heart and spirit embrace our Savior within our body and soul.

We pray we can forgive our transgressions, truly, for when we were out of control.

For, God, our powerful Lord forgives freely, and compassion, grace, and mercy realize no end.

And God’s benevolence and blessing as the Almighty is the trusting Lord, we can all faithfully depend.
